Within 3 miles, is the town of Looe which has a large sandy beach bordered by a promenade and distinctive Banjo shaped pier. As the tide recedes this extends down the coast to the holiday village of Milendreath which also provides a fine sandy beach to explore. The quieter beaches of Talland bay and Lansallos are all within 4 miles set in beautiful country side with spectacular views of the Cornish coast.
Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor are a short drive away for walkers and hikers. The SW coastal path is less than 3 miles away as well as many local foot paths offering a excellent selection of walks for both experienced and occasional walkers alike as well as wonderful views and scenery.
The ancient fishing ports of Looe and Polperro are both within 3 miles The town of Looe is still a busy working harbour with fish landed and sold daily. There is a good selection of pubs, cafés, restaurants, shops, banks and building societies within the town. Polperro's streets are a tangle of former fishermens and smugglers cottages leading to a working harbour, small shops and a good selection of pubs and restaurants. Within 6 miles is the coastal village of Polruan and the beautiful harbour town of Fowey nestling within a wooded valley at the entrance to the River Fowey with its excellent selection of restaurants and art galleries. Deep sea fishing and mackerel fishing trips can be booked at all these locations or alternatively pleasure cruises along the Cornish coast are available.
Cornwall is famous for its spectacular gardens. The ground breaking Eden Project, many National Trust properties including Lanhydrock, Antony, and The Lost Gardens of Heligan, are all within 25 miles of Talehay. Further a field can be found the Trebah Gardens and Glendurgan Gardens at Falmouth, Trewithen Gardens at Truro and Trengwainton Gardens NT in Penzance.
